Latest on RB Leonard Fournette of the Buccaneers

It sounds like Leonard Fournette has to put in some effort to get in shape for the game.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times was informed by a Buccaneers coach that the RB arrived at camp weighing more than 250 pounds.

Fournette seemed to be out of shape at minicamp, according to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times, who observed the running back plainly straining during exercises.

Fournette acknowledged that he was overweight, but he seemed confident that he will return to normal weight in time for training camp.

Fournette stated, "Obviously, I need to lose weight, which has always been [a issue] throughout the summer. It will eventually fall again, though.

Ronald Jones relinquished the starting position to Fournette in 2021, and he grasped the chance.

The former fourth-overall choice averaged 4.5 yards per carry, a career best, and finished sixth among running backs in the NFL with 1,266 yards from scrimmage.

He ultimately re-signed with Tampa Bay on a three-year, $21MM deal after becoming a free agent. Rachaad White, a third-round draught selection, would get more practise time if the 27-year-old is restricted to begin training camp.
